Failure. It’s a part of life. We’ve all experienced one way or another, big or small, brief or extended. It can really be a painful situation that leads you to constantly beat yourself up over it. Most of the time, failure is what prevents us from taking risks. But honestly, we need to start embracing failure.
There have been many times we’re I’ve been met with failure. From acting parts to dancing spots, I’ve been told no. It left me wondering, “oh, was I not good enough?” or “is there something wrong with me?” I’ve beat myself up many times over not succeeding every time I try to accomplish something. That wasn’t the case though. I was absolutely good enough and there’s definitely nothing wrong with me. Sometimes, life just doesn’t work out the way we all want it to. Thankfully though, I learned early on that failure IS okay.
If I had never experienced failure, I’d probably be the same person who I was let’s say, 10 years ago! I’ve grown so much from my experiences. And that’s what failure does for you. It teaches you life lessons. Lessons that you may not have been able to learn if you hadn’t experienced that obstacle. That’s why I’ve learned to embrace it. Anytime I’m met with failure, I take what I can from that experience, figure out where I can improve, and work at it ten times harder. It’s helped me build a stronger mind so the next time I fall, I get back up just as quickly. And at the end of it all, success tastes far more sweeter when you know you’ve worked extra hard for it.
So the next time you come across failing, embrace it. Understand and acknowledge how it makes you feel, but then take the lessons you’ve learned from it and try even harder next time. Go out there and don’t be afraid to take risks! We only got one life after all.
